This is one of those books, that as a reviewer I want to gush wholeheartedly about, but there isn’t a huge amount I can actually say about the plot and characters without giving a massive amount away, and I definitely think this is a book you need to go in without any pre-conceptions as to what is going to happen, because for me that was half the joy of finally getting Lincoln’s story.

Lauren delivered up a slightly different story this time, in that it was very much character driven, that’s not to say that her books in the past haven’t been, but I just found everything with Lincoln and Daisy’s story to have an added depth and emotion to it. Sex comes a long way into the story, but it works well because of it as these two characters have an awful lot to work out between them and individually before they can take the path towards a fully fledged relationship.

You get the usual back-up with the rest of the

    and

characters, and as in all of the previous books, their addition brings great entertainment to the proceedings, but there were points where it just added to the whole dynamic of the story. Lincoln is not the character you have been lead to believe over the course of the previous books, and the more you see of the real guy that hides behind the charming facade, the more emotional certain aspects of the story make you as things move along.

Kindred spirits that inevitably pull together due to the connection and emotional understanding they have to what the other has been and is going through, both of them present a front for the world to see, and it seems that the only ones to have ever seen past the facade is the other. I loved this couple as friends, more than friends and eventually lovers.

For me this is some of the best writing I have had the pleasure to enjoy from this author. I loved her work before

I am pretty sure I will continue to love it for many years to come.

Luckily we get more from the

    series in 2017, with

due for release in June, and I cannot wait!

Lincoln Mathis has an enormous secret he hides behind a womanizing façade he actively encourages backed by his dating and sex advice column at Oxford. Everyone thinks he’s the ultimate playboy, except the one woman he barely knows and has seen beyond the sexy exterior. Revealing his heartbreaking past to the feisty Daisy Sinclair felt as natural as breathing because he knows no matter how attracted he is to her, he can never allow himself to have her.

Daisy knows to stay away from men who project trouble with a capital “T.” After her demoralizing divorce, she really doesn’t want anything to do with men, much less a gorgeous one with a quick smile and a flirty quip at the ready. After he reveals his secret though, Daisy realizes they’re both kindred spirits. As their lived start to twist around each other’s, Daisy begins to fall for the beautiful, damaged man. But can she convince him they’re good for one another?

I loved the charming and enigmatic Lincoln Mathis ever since Lauren Lane introduced him, and I had been waiting for his story ever since. I wasn’t sure what he was hiding underneath that enchanting veneer, but I was sure this book would be different from all the rest. Lauren Layne delivered a story that made me smile, laugh, tear up as well as fan myself with both heartbreaking and heartwarming potency.

Lincoln and Daisy are interesting and appealing characters. They have an incredible back and forthright off the bat. They’re well layered and perfect for each other. Besides having a strong attraction (those sexy times are HOT!), they complement and understand one another. Their bond slowly builds and strengthens as they become good friends who share secrets and support one another. Although they’re road to happiness is not without its troubles they do find it in a delightful epilogue that left me smiling like a Cheshire cat.

Lauren Layne creates a marvelous romance full of passion and drama I couldn’t put down. I’ve enjoyed every single book in this series and the original Sex, Love and Stiletto and I fully appreciated having the entire gang back that certainly felt like a “plus-sized Friends episode.” It was great to see their expanding families while they all help Lincoln and Daisy out.

Oh and hey! I almost forget, I got a real kick out of Lauren Layne’s shout out to the three romance novelists, two of whom I’ve read and loved. See if you can stop them and know who they are!

Someone Like You is book 3 in Oxford Series by Lauren Layne that can be read as a standalone. It’s written from both points of view and interconnecting characters from past books. I recommend it for readers that like touching and sexy romances with a sweet happy ending.

I admit. I was a bit worried starting this book. For one, the synopsis for this book changed, and so did the name of the heroine. Not a good sign. Second, I loved Lincoln the moment he was introduced in the Sex, Love & Stiletto series. I have been waiting for his book forever. And you know, expectations has the tendency to mess with your reading mojo.

BUT Lauren Layne did Lincoln Mathis' story justice. Yup. Even the heroine change made sense. Daisy and Lincoln together made sense.

BUT Lauren Layne did Lincoln Mathis' story justice. Yup. Even the heroine change made sense. Daisy and Lincoln together made sense.

Someone Like You packs quite an emotional punch. Something that I've never quite experience from Lauren Layne before.

On the outside, Lincoln and Daisy couldn't be more different from each other. Daisy is the epitome of a Southern good girl charm until her marriage fell apart. Lincoln is the picture of a man on the prowl. He's fun, laid back and has women falling all over themselves to get close to him. But unbeknownst to many and even to his closest friends, Lincoln is hiding a very important part of his life.

What I like about this story is how the romance between Lincoln and Daisy built from being acquaintances to friends and then to lovers. The obstacles, the insecurities, all the things that they had to overcome to get to their happy ending was heart-wrenching especially on Lincoln's part. And the angst!! Oh man, the angst. I loved how angsty this book was.

That said, I was a bit let down by the last 10% of the book. The ending felt rushed. I feel like this book could have used another 50 pages or so, just to give Lincoln time to really, really grovel. The reason being was that he really messed up. He messed up bad. And a few more chapters would've made this book even better.

Don't get me wrong. This book is great, and I really liked it but I wish there was more. More grovel, more resolution so to speak. Nevertheless, I wasn't disappointed. Lincoln and Daisy's story enthralled me from beginning to end.

If you're anything like me, then you've been both eagerly anticipating and dreading Lincoln's book. Anticipating it because you love those irreverent playboys, and dreading because you're afraid that you've been building up your expectations in anticipation. Lincoln's story was the one I've been waiting for since

. It's been a long, painful wait. But after finishing this book in one sitting, I can tell you that it was every single minute, hour, day, and month of the wait. It didn't meet my expectation. Heck no! It blew them away. Lincoln Mathis took everything I had thought I knew about him and took me on a rollercoaster of emotion. I laughed, I cried, I freaking swooned! I adored everything about this story. EVERYTHING.

If there's one thing I can tell you is to go into this book ABSOLUTELY BLIND. You don't want to know the smallest detail. Trust me on this. You'll appreciate the emotional punch that much more. What I can tell you is that you're expecting for this to be the typical playboy meets the right girl and changes his way sort of story, you couldn't be more wrong.

Daisy is Emma's twin sister. Coming off of a bitter divorce has left her a little cracked, but not broken. This was a woman with so much internal strength and it just took her a bit to get it all backed. Daisy was such a powerhouse of a heroine...in a perfectly understated way. She was exactly what Lincoln needed. She was patient, kind, understanding and never pushed beyond what she knew the boundaries were. She has her own past demons that she's trying to recover from, and it just made her that much more endearing.

As for Lincoln? Man oh man, I never thought it'd be possible for me to love him even more than I already did. Still waters certainly run deep with this man and he's so much more that what first meets the eye.

What you see is not at all what you get with him and soon the pieces begin to click together towards the heartrending secret that he keeps. My heart went through a ringer with him. It's impossible not to fall for him, not to feel his pain, not to want to soothe and heal him. In between the easy friendship that Lincoln and Daisy instantly develop, there was such a deep emotion interspersed with a hidden craving. God. GOD but I loved these two together.

Someone Like You was an incredibly powerful, poignant and emotional romance. It was a story of second chances and healing. It was a stunning story of finding your strength again and moving on. It's a story of courage and love. It was absolute perfection and reminded me all over again why I first fell in love with Lauren Layne's writing. The woman can make you feel, laugh, and love all in 228 wonderful pages. If you've enjoyed the rest of the Stiletto and Oxford series and you've been anticipating Lincoln's story as much as I have, this is a must read. But have a box of tissues ready, because you won't come out of it unscathed. Be ready to shed some tears and swoon over the perfect imperfection that is Lincoln Mathis.

is the third installment in the

by Lauren Layne but it can be read as a standalone. I have to say this series gets better with each installment and it is definitely shaping up to be my favorite of all of this author’s works. This one is by far, the best in this truly delectable and addictive series. I’ve been lucky in that lately my reads have all been five-star worthy and yet again I’m given a broken Hero who completely stole my heart. After the story ends the author explains how at first she had a different Heroine in mind and I do think if she had gone with her initial choice, this would have been a good book but her decision to go in a different direction with the female lead, ended up making this a PHENOMENAL read instead!!!

We begin with everyone gearing up for the wedding between Alex Cassidy and Emma Sinclair. Lincoln Mathis is the sex columnist at Oxford and he’s also the best man. Daisy Sinclair is Emma’s twin sister and has flown in from Charlotte, NC, to be the maid-of-honor. Lincoln is warned by Emma to keep his hands off her sister and Daisy is also warned to beware of the utterly gorgeous Lincoln and his playboy ways. But these two feel an instant connection between them. It’s as if they can see past each other’s facades as if they have a deep-rooted kinship. Both Daisy and Lincoln have become pros at hiding their sadness and pain from their close friends and family. The night of the wedding they skip out together and end up sharing one too many drinks and some really good conversation. Daisy quickly sees that Lincoln isn’t a player at all and that he’s skilled in the art of deflecting the advances of women. She finds it odd but can tell there’s some deep rooted pain he keeps buried and seeing as how she too has her secrets, Daisy never pushes Lincoln to share more than he’s ready to give.

Daisy and Lincoln form a fast and easy friendship and very early on he lets her in on his secret that he has kept from all of his close friends. This has got to be the first book out of both the Stiletto and Oxford series that had such depth and unbelievable heartbreak. I’m not going to give away either the Hero or Heroine’s secret but will admit that I could not stop the tears from flowing and Lincoln Mathis is my favorite of all of Lauren Layne’s heroes. My heart was completely tied up in that man.

I enjoyed having all of the characters from the Stiletto and Oxford series back again and there’s no need to worry if you haven’t read them yet as the author does summarize who everyone is and how they’re all connected.

This was a total pleasure for me to read and one of the things I loved was that the hero wasn’t the stereotypical “Playboy”. He loved his pink fruity cocktails and adored his tiny little Maltese pup named Kiwi. I was expecting Lincoln to be the typical sexy player who had an endless supply of women who kept his bed warm at night and it was completely refreshing when he turned out to be the antithesis of what his outward appearance displayed.

Those of you who can’t get enough of romances with a broken hero are going to want to dive into this one right away. But be warned, it's going to break your heart so be sure to have a box of Kleenex by your side.

Lincoln Mathis captured our imagination from the moment he was mentioned in the first books. He was that type of guy who was charming, mischievous, playful and down right sex on a stick. We only had an itsy bit of a tease of him but it was just enough to pique our interest...With the encouragement from a close friend, Ms. Layne saw what needed to be done...and after all this begging and pleading, we have his entire story.

Lincoln has worked hard to front his reputation...he is the man about town and all women see him as the ultimate goal... to be on his arm is an achievement. That he has the ability to have all women who come in contact with him remain friendly "after".... shows his grace. His friends at Oxford and Stiletto are always teasing him about who he should hit on next...and Lincoln just smiles, laughs and plays along. He enjoys ribbing the guys about how they are dropping like flies... all finding their special someone...and it is at the wedding of another co-worker where he finally meets his "Like".

Daisy Sinclair is the twin of Emma. Emma from Stiletto has loved her twin all her life...but for Emma, the draw of the big city was so strong, she left their southern home as soon as she could for New York City. The rest is history. Which meant, Daisy continued to be close with her sister...but from afar...and her sister's life was fast paced and all about her career...so they remained close...but not like when they were kids.... sharing every little thing.

Daisy didn't share her doubts about her marriage...Daisy didn't let her family know the real reasons for the divorce. She let them all think the reason was his cheating on her and knocking up the woman happily, even her best friend. It was better that way...Easier.

Now both of these people have been warned...Lincoln was read the riot act to leave Daisy alone... to stay clear and not unleash his panty dropping charm. Daisy was not to be another castaway...She was also told by Emma...to watch out and have her radar on...to combat any interest in Lincoln...She was told clearly... He is not for you.

The stage was set...and the wedding rehearsal dinner/get together is happening and there as Lincoln is talking with another, Daisy enters the room. As casually as he can, he sees this vision...and realizes who it is... She looks similar to her twin... but then nothing like her at all....and when Daisy comes up to Lincoln...both get a glimpse of something no one ever notices...

That stark moment when the vulnerable, the authentic is laid bare...just before the friendly, approachable mask is put in place...sealing off all the pain and secrets hiding within.

Both Daisy and Lincoln have shared a true moment...As they talk about how they have been warned away from each other, little nuggets of awareness are exchanged...done with a life of their own...and both know each is just like the other...

    Like Recognizing Like...

This book is like no other Layne in her past series...There is the same fun and banter, the same interest and sharing of the past characters...But with this entry...there is a deeper feel of what the goals are for its outcome. The life lessons are equally important from all the others books we have experienced in the past...yet these lessons may be harder to accomplish in real life like they are in this book. We may not agree with the path all of these characters take...but in reality, would they be any easier...

I want to share the playfulness, fun and banter these two experience. Everything is not all dark ... and sexy times are always a strong point with Layne. The chemistry with Lincoln and Daisy is terrific. We want everything to work... to be easy for them... and in the end...we want them to know joy...together.

I think this book did Lincoln justice. This man is not perfect... This man is someone we all could love, want to be with through all of his moments...Daisy is a strong, special woman and it is fitting she is able to deal with all of the sides of Lincoln...to still be able to hold on to who she has become, too.

The good news is Layne somehow was able to weave new characters into this tight knit group....

Yes, People...There is another Oxford Novel Coming!!! I can share these next two characters will cause all sorts of sparks to fly because both are a bit head strong and not ones to give in easily.

A little heartbreak combined with a likeable duo, Lauren Layne took out the big guns when pulling together this Lincoln Mathis' novel. This has been a book that I've been anticipating in what seems like forever. I love this authors work, I can't deny, but when Layne combines her usual witty banter with a slice of sad on the side I have to admit I was fully gone.

Two characters both shying away from their secrets get thrown together in a witty, heartfelt story that combines the best of Lauren Layne. On the one hand this book supplies the perfect banter, wordplay and romance but on the flip side the reader is also sold on a tale of 'rescue' for hero and heroine alike. Jump aboard this contemporary romance novel I'm convinced you'll experience nothing close to regret.

Hero and heroine alike were equally irresistible and adorable which was scoring some major book points. The flirtatious ribbing, friendship and camaraderie between the protagonists was second to none and once again highlighted Layne's talent at enticing her readers to fall in love with love. This novel had sweetness and light branded all over it with just the right amount of lightly presented angst. It suited my tastes to a tee and I was more than happy to see a lovely theme of friends to lovers emerge between this couple. The affection was just as addictive as the steam and the tension between these would be lovers was off the charts. Layne has once again produced a contemporary romance that is a real page turner and I'm pretty sure there will be a long line of readers who'd agree.

All things considered this novel was very close to grabbing a top star rating. As it was I needed to be convinced a little further. I really didn't feel like I had enough time with this duo to fall all the way into five star love. Everything I read I adored: the banter, the flow, the characters the mix of happy and sad. But I needed more. My time with this book flew by and before I knew it I had reached the end with the overwhelming desire for 'more'. In short Lauren Layne is my top 'go to' author but for my tastes this book lacked a fullness. Maybe I'm greedy, or being overly picky, but as I ended this book I had that niggle that couldn't give room for a five star. Sad but true. However, despite my above thoughts I truly enjoyed myself with my latest 'Layne' escape and as per the norm I'm left scrambling the internet in the search for this authors next release date.

Here's an author that never fails to make me fall into her writing with zero regrets and happiness. I know I might sound a little on the side of melodramatic but when I'm able to escape into a novel with pure enjoyment that right there is just what I'm looking to do. Lauren Layne, has weaved together a gorgeous story and I'm excited for other readers to finally get to see what Lincoln Mathis is hiding under all his women winning ways. Enjoy ... kisses.

. I love Lauren Layne, love love love her so I had insanely high expectations for this and that is not always good because sometimes books do not reach said expectations. Well, this was not the case. Lincoln's story was everything I expected it to be! Thank you LL because you are simply a genius!

is the third installment in the

series and it can be considered the last regarding this series and the

books too (even though Lauren is writing a fourth spin-off

    novel).

As I said, we met Lincoln Mathis at the start of the series and he is known to be the funny and sexy playboy of the group. But, there have always been mysteries around him that made us think he is not what he appears to be. Daisy Sinclair (we met her in the

series) is broken too. She is a just divorced woman, still affected by how her marriage ended and she is not expecting to feel what she feels when she is around Lincoln. Both of them do not expect to slowly heal each other.

Lauren Layne is one of my favorite authors since I read the first

novel and she definitely did not disappoint with

. It was what I expected and so much more. It's the story of two broken souls (especially Lincoln) that slowly piece the shattered pieces of their hearts together. I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say these two totally deserved to find their HEA after everything they suffered. My poor heart broke for Lincoln when we discovered the whole truth and for Daisy too. I totally cried my eyeballs out with this book and I loved every second of it!

This book has the perfect plot and the perfect characters. Both main and secondary (I loved seeing all the Oxford/Stiletto team again!!) are just a fantastic mix of outstanding characters. I love how Lauren writes their connections, how she keeps everyone together and how she develops the love story. I totally get why this relationship developed even more slowly than the other ones that she has written but I also missed having more moments of Lincoln and Daisy as a couple. Still, it was such a beautiful read that I can't complain when we got Lauren at her best.

As always, when it gets to the first kiss part and the sex part, holy hell woman! LL knows how to write those for sure! She makes you feel all the feels, all the butterflies and everything else with her words. Lincoln and Daisy have great chemistry, as friends and as a couple. They are definitely on my top favorite couples by Lauren Layne!

Damn, I am going to miss all these fantastic characters. SO MUCH! The friendships, the familiarity and the love relationships are one of the things Lauren writes best. She made me love all these people so much that it will be hard saying goodbye. But, I loved how she wrote the ending and how she involved everyone in it! It was absolutely brilliant.

    Therefore, my rating for

is 5 STARS because Lincoln's story definitely reached the high expectations I had for it. As I said, I missed having more 'couple' moments but I get it too: they had to heal first. I really really will miss these characters but I am sure Lauren will write more amazing people in the future and I can't wait! So, if you are LL fan you can't miss this book, like READ IT right now! It was so good, I highly recommend it!

as my emotions switched rapidly throughout the course of this story. I was laughing one minute, near tears the next and then just wanted to scream, "Get your act together, for crying out loud!" Talk about a slow burn with lots of pushing and pulling going on. Their deep need for one another to help heal their broken hearts and slay their demons makes this story a multi-faceted, passionate read, which was compelling and kept me burning through the pages.

So what is the best coping mechanism when you have painful secrets you are trying to hide? ...... Pretend they don't exist!

Lincoln and Daisy are very good at pretending. Both are extremely attractive, quick witted, and conduct themselves as if they have the world by the tail. But in reality, they are in pain and trying their best not to let it show. They are finding it hard to reconcile with the past and move forward.

Lincoln's reputation also proceeds him, but ....... not all is as it seems. Once he meets Daisy, she starts chipping away at the walls he has erected around his heart.

This is book 3 in "The Oxford" series, but is a stand alone.
